OUR COACHES FOR 2020
Lee Hobbs has been appointed as the Senior Head Coach for the 2020 NPLW Victoria season.
Lee completed his FFA B license in 2017 and joins us after spending 4 years at State League 1 club Casey Comets Football Club. Lee developed Casey Comets into one of the top female State teams in Victoria, achieving runner up ladder positions in each of the past three seasons. As well as leading the senior women’s team, Lee was responsible for management of the entire female program at Comets, working with players and coaches from all age groups.
Margot Robinne has been appointed as the club’s Technical Director for the 2020 NPLW Victoria season.
Margot holds a UEFA B licence, has a Master’s degree in Sports Management & Marketing, and is the founder of L’Académie; a soccer program for females only. She has extensive experience coaching girls in both football and Futsal in France and Australia.
Margot is also an accomplished and well-known player in her own right. She played 10 years in first and second national divisions in France, was selected twice for the World Cup with the French futsal team, as well as being part of the team that won the European University Futsal Championships twice.
Margot played for Bayside United and FC Bulleen Lions in 2019, coming 7th in the NPLW Victoria Golden Boot rankings with 26 goals for the season. She also placed in the top 10 in the NPLW’s Gold Medal (ie. best and fairest) count.
Tom Ng will be our Assistant Senior Coach for the 2020 NPLW Victoria season.
Tom completed his FFA C license in 2016. He has been coaching for 9 seasons including Head Coach at Deakin Lions SC seniors, and then at Richmond SC. In 2018 he coached the Melbourne University State League 1 reserves to a title. In 2019 he moved to Casey Comets Football Club to assist Lee Hobbs with his State League 1 team. In 2020 he will continue this successful partnership by working with Lee again, as Assistant Senior Coach here at Bayside United.
Andrew Mashoian will be coaching its under 19 squad for the 2020 NPLW Victoria season.
Andrew has a C license and is currently underway with his B license. He has a Bachelor degree in Applied Science with an Honours in Health Promotion as well as a Certificate III and IV in Fitness. Andrew has been coaching since 2011 and most recently coached State League 1 senior women at Mooroolbark Soccer Club. He played for many years before his third knee reconstruction finally ended his career. During his playing career Andrew represented Victoria and was voted National Youth League Player of the Year.
James received his Senior C License in 2013. He was a player before becoming a coach, representing Ireland as a junior before playing in England. Upon arrival in Australia in 1986 he played for Bondi Marines, and then at various clubs within the NSW State League system. He first coached at community level with Balmain & District division 1 juniors. He then joined Sydney University NPL as its U16 Girls assistant coach and then became the Head Coach of the U15 Girls before being appointed Head Coach of their Reserves team. James coached our under 16 NPL squad in 2019 and will be coaching them again in 2020.
Jake Stephenson will coach the under 14 NPLW Victoria squad for the 2020 season.
Jake is a Level 3 (UEFA B) license coach and comes to us from the UK. He was most recently the Football Development Officer for The FA (The English Football Association), developing a nationwide initiative to increase participation in girls’ football in the UK. Prior to that Jake was the Head of Sport and First team football coach at Bishopstrow College, working with the U12-U17s teams. He has also coached at Westbury United FC.
Jake played and captained Leeds Metropolitan University FC, and also played semi-professional football for Westbury United FC in the UK.
Gabriel Phillips will coach the under 12 NPLW Victoria squad for the 2020 season.
Gabriel comes to us with a wealth of junior and senior playing and coaching experience. He played his junior football in Trinidad and Tobago and in Canada, whilst his senior football has been played in the State leagues in Canberra and Melbourne.
Gabriel started his coaching career at La Trobe University in 1995 and was responsible for the formation of the first women's team there. He has coached at both La Trobe University and the University of Canberra, and is now looking forward to having a positive impact on a much younger group of players.
OUR SPECIALIST COACHES
Phil Weiss will remain as our NPLW Victoria Goal Keeping Coach for the 2020 season.
This will be Phil's third year with our keepers. He works with all of our keepers - under 12 through to our NPLW Victoria Goal Keeper of the Year Lauren Farrugia.
Phil holds a FFA Goal Keeping Level 1 license and is an ex NPL and State League player himself. He has coached both male and female, junior and senior, goalkeepers at a variety of clubs including Cobras FC - Bentleigh, East Brighton United, Knox City Soccer Club, and Southern United.
Niki was a member of Sandringham Soccer Club's Women's Premier League team before being playing for Bayside United in 2016. Niki was appointed Bayside's inaugural Club Captain. She was granted a scholarship by the Australian Sports Commission to complete her B license at the Australian Institute of Sport in 2016. She is a VCE teacher at one of Melbourne's top private girls' schools so is well used to teaching teenagers. Niki assists Bayside United in a specialist coaching capacity during the season.
OUR HIGH PERFORMANCE TEAM
Alistair boasts an impressive resume with a Masters Degree in High-Performance Sport, a Bachelor Degree in Exercise and Sports Science and an ASCA (Australian Strength & Conditioning Association) Level 1 and Level 2 certificate. Alistair is also the Performance Manager with NPL2 club Langwarrin SC and in the past also worked with Dandenong Thunder. He is also the Strength and Conditioning coach for an APS Rowing team and is Head of Performance with IDENTITY PRO.
DR SARAH WALSH (osteo)
Sarah is a qualified Osteopath practising out of Valued Health Osteopathy and Brighton Ostepathic Clinic. Sarah has been playing in the NPLW and WPL for 10 years so has valuable personal experience on the demands this sport has on the body, as well as her vast experience in treating (and avoiding!) sports injuries. She also has an ASCA level 1 certificate and a Graduate Certificate in High Performance Sport.
Sharadha is an APA Musculoskeltal Physiotherapist, with a Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy and a Masters Degree in Musculoskeltal Physiotherapy. Sharadha worked with both the Bayside United under 19 and senior squads in 2019.
Ryan was the Sports Science Coach at Bayside United in 2019. He has a double degree in Sports Exercise Science (Nutrition) and Information Systems from Deakin University. Ryan is also a certified personal trainer and is the founder of Peak Condition; a business that provides strength and conditioning and nutrition programs for athletes.
